Charlotte, NC – SENNEBOGEN has announced the release of a new Green Hybrid material handler built to meet the needs of heavy lift applications in seaports, barge facilities, demanding mills, and industrial sites.

The SENNEBOGEN 865E M (wheeled) and 865E R-HD (tracked) Hybrid models take the place of the previous models 860 M and 860 R-HD Hybrid in the 180,000 to 220,000-lb range. With its extended reach and increased load capacity, the beefed-up 865E can often allow equipment managers to replace older makes and models with a smaller, more economical machine that delivers equal or greater productivity.

Lifting and swinging loads up to 850 tons per hour, the fast cycle time of the 865E can reduce the berthing time of ships or accelerate loading times for steel mills and large scrap recyclers. A quick-change attachment coupler equips the 865E to handle all types of loads easily.

More power, less fuel

SENNEBOGEN’s Green Hybrid energy recovery system is a key contributor to the outstanding capability of the 865E. Now proven on SENNEBOGEN’s largest machines through recent years, Green Hybrid machines are distinctive for their oversized hydraulic cylinder, mounted between the boom’s two lifting cylinders. With each downstroke of the massive boom, this large cylinder applies hydraulic pressure to compress nitrogen gas into receiver cells. On the next upstroke, this captured energy is released from the cells, like a compressed spring, to assist in lifting the weight of the boom and the load. The efficiency of this simple mechanical method allows greater lift capacity while it reduces fuel consumption by as much as 50%! On the 865, this can translate into savings of more than 10,000 gallons (40,000 liters) of fuel every year.

Electrifying

By opting for one of SENNEBOGEN’s eGreen electric-drive systems, facilities can achieve even greater reductions in operating costs. Along with saving on energy bills, electric power reduces maintenance costs and downtime with service intervals twice as long as units powered by diesel engines. The advantages of eGreen power include eliminating fuel/oil filters and oil changes, and 24/7 operation with no stops for refueling. SENNEBOGEN offers a variety of choices for electric power supply, including a range of mobile solutions. To support the switch from diesel electric, SENNEBOGEN can conduct detailed route analyses and project planning tailored to specific applications and facilities.

Environmental stewardship

The traditional diesel-powered 865E also offers cost-efficient, environmentally-friendly power. Green Efficiency technology introduced with SENNEBOGEN E-Series models features state-of-the-art engine, drive, and emission systems compliant with the latest Tier 4 Final (Stage V) standards. Large-scale pipes and valves allow maximum hydraulic efficiency, while Eco-Mode controls minimize any waste during idle times. Biodegradable oil, standard in the 865E, achieves extended oil change intervals with safe environmental compatibility in waterside applications.

“Beyond the machine”

Upgrades in the 865E reflect SENNEBOGEN’s initiatives to “think beyond the machine” to deliver the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) with industry-leading support throughout the life of the machine. Manageable and service-friendly technology ensures maximum machine availability, backed by fast, reliable access to parts and nearby factory-trained technicians.
